Last year there was an issue with route markers been removed resulting in riders doing the incorrect distances, hopefully there is a recce on the morning to ensure that all is ok.

Yes 1st priority of day..

I take full responsibility for last year, was a rookie mistake, & unfortunately one idiot stuff race up @ a crucial point.

USN @ Red barn had same thing a few months later..

Water/muddy sections

  • Start/finish crossing river 10/30/60 (will open up area to drain & have conveyor belts down as well)
  • Serengeti Dam - small crossing (out for 10/30/60 - return for 10/60)
  • River "Reed" neighbors @6.5Km- 30/60-out, @49km -60 back - (water very low) - ground hard packed
  • @ 10Km (30/60-out) MUD bath last year - so far all dry
  • @ 11km - under road - Dunblane (30/60-out) & 30km(30-back) - not bad, will be putting boards down.
  • @ 44km-60 & 22.5Km-30 - down railway up to WP2 - ok, got pallets if needed
  • (60km (mud just after WP2) down power lines, - last was all filled in, all fine)

Then

60km back through "reeds" / over dam & river @ Start/Finish

30Km back under road & river @ Start/Finish.

So all looking good, will give finial update after I finish marking course 2mrw.

Cool, just picked up my race number sticker, nice to see how the queue for MTB collection was longer than the road one

Hi I would really appreciate that final feedback as soon as you have it as I would still love to do the race despite most of my riding buddies wanting to pull out due to the rain and mud.If you still think it is rideable and enjoyable I'm still keen.

Regards,

Justin

I’m thinking of taking my old school v-brake bikes out and spare the new once from the mud

Do you get a "Flipper" attachment for Cleats?

When we registered I had to buy a Racetec Chip. Which is now not required. Are there any other races that will require this chip during the year?

Pity about the rain. The first 10km will be impossible following this downpour. Upside, I can spend Saturday fixing things around the house   Not a pleasant alternative.

you better use up those calcium pills fast, they expire really soon.
