I am not so sure about the bad name RST shocks has/had but RST use to be/still is a low end cheap shock found on low end bikes mostly . MY experience with RST has been very favourable . It did what it was suppose to do and the RST Capa I had actaully lasted for 4 years . It was also a easy shock to rebuild (service) and spares never use to be a problem .

Same here. My trek 4300 has a RST "something" and never given me any problems. Does what it needs to do, for a budget bike.

Until I was about 15 all my sus forks were RST's, never had a complaint with them...sigh.... Those old 281's, heavy as hell but bombproof and cheap.

RST, from what I can remember, is the Japanese company who practically started mass producing front shocks... Long history behind them - certainly not as illustrious today, but I guess you could do worse...

Still have to ask though - out of everything available, why this one?

Ps... just had a look at the link you provided...

Pretty sweet looking!
