CB Eggbeater 1 Pedals

Hi

 

I'm in the market for new pedals, and I saw the Eggbeaters 1 at CWC for R620, thats a good price for my budget.

 

Are they good? Pros and Cons? I have been using the SPD Shimano pedals you get when buying a bike, but it's warn out and is giving me knee problems.

What is meant with/ the importance of contact area? I never realised that I was missing out so badly on something with my eggbeaters...

 

I have eggbreaters on all my bikes and love them - oldest pair going strong after 6 years (migrated from 2 bikes) and only had to rebuild bearings once. I believe that the "float" on the platform helps as far as knee strain is concerned.

Pro's are definately mud shedding (especially when you have compressed mud into your shoe and try to cleat in, it simply works) for my liking the ease of cleating in and outbut never cleating out unwanted, fit and forget.
