Anyone know of anyone who knows of anyone in JHB, who is hiring out bike boxes for the Argus weekend? Kulula require you to bring your bike, pre-packaged, for transport.

Any bike shop worth their salt should be able to give you one.

Sometimes a bike shop will still have a used cardboard box in good condition, alternatively you can buy a new cardboard bike box for about R100. Far as I know, Cyclelab have these available.

Cyclelab said they're no longer providing boxing facilities... All part of the bigger, better experience...?

Doesn't surprise me, there was so much snotty bitching about paying R100 to package a couple of k worth of bike. How dare they.

I don't understand the issue

Every bike sold arrives in a bike box and they are trashed

I can understand a bike shop charging to pack the bike because its time and time is money.

We used to just give the boxes away

I don't either, nothing wrong with paying for an unused box that's sourced specifically for the purpose, well worth a platry R100 rand. The boxing companys themselves don't provide that specific box either.

There's a difference between providing a new unused box and giving away one that's been used though.

Anyway, we're going off topic :) ...

Chat to Mia at the Cycle Hub , they helped me out with a hard plastic one a while ago .

It had wheels and was easy to move about . Should keep your baby safe ......
