Thanks for the info, will go check out those websites.

Sadly import costs are just massively too high to import:(

Thats a local site btw. Postage only

Oh, yes, just checked them out now. That is a bonus!! The Inspired Element looks really nice but quite a lot of piggies to break open.

What's the opinion on building a trials bike using a DJ frame, is the geometry suitable??

Trials is REALLY small in SA, Diald has just started brining in Inspired's, they are a bit pricey but I love mine.

A facebook page was recently started for Zoo bikes but no prices available yet.

Online shops your best bet would be Tartybikes and CRC, if you buy the bike in pieces you don't pay any duties.

I got mine from Tarty and a friend brought it over for me from Germany.

There is this bike for sale here

I started off on the GT Zaskar Hans Ray frame and that was really good to learn on.

Its very similar to a DJ frame just lighter and has brake mounts for HS33's

Just put a longer stem on and single speed 22-18 was good.

Here is a facebook page with all the guys I know

I met a Robert last weekend at Giba who recently got a trials bike, I might ride with him at Cascades next weekend.

I recently got my hands on another bike and am using it to give lessons to guys up in JHB, unfortunately you stay a bit far.

Thanks Peach for all the info.

If you are ever down PMB with your lesson's bike, I would certainly interested to give it a try.

Will keep my eyes super peeled for anything that pops up in my neck of the woods.

You can get into trials by learning the basic skills on a normal MTB. A DJ bike is one way to go if you want to keep the costs down, but it will only take you so far. You can speak to Dylan Victor at CycleLab Westlake, they have a few Echo bikes in stock for less than a third of the price it would cost you to bring in from Tarty. Also there was a 24" streetbike on the hub for sale a while back (Think the guy wanted R10k for it).

Contacted Dylan from Cycle Lab, seems to be a really nice guy. He phoned me for a 15min chat describing which bike would be best. Thanks for the heads up singlespeedGuy and Letum911...+1

He says that he may have a Echo just right for me, super pysched . . . can't wait to become a trial rider.

I'm still on a Kona Shred DJ, never ridden a proper trials bike, all the above stated tho, prepare to ride you're ass off :D its hard work but so fun.

Pictures of Echo if you get it!!

I went to see Peach at Cascades and he has given me the low down, his Inspired looked awesome!! GT Collector is helping me out putting some ideas together to build a bike up. Possibly to use a DMR 898 Frame (http://dialdbikes.co...-898-frame.html) and to tailor build it the way I want to.

The other idea, is to wait for Cycle Lab down in CT, Richard said he will put me on the waiting list for the new Echo's. I certainly like the look of the Echo 24" Mk II

Looks like a sweet ride
