He was referring to the cycle lab thread - calling the people there wankers. Which a couple of people in that thread did anyway. Nowhere do I see him referring to the OP in that manner.

No where in my reply did I imply that he called the OP that. I know he was talking about Cycle Lab. All I am saying he can take offense, maybe he has friends at Cycle Lab maybe he's dad is Andrew Mclean you never know.

I have a 26in Trance, had a 26in Ghost DS, but I prefer the handling and more upright position of the Trance.

Even if it makes me a teenager with no idea if I like mountain biking....!

I was looking at the Ghost Lector 7700. Beautiful machine. But no idea how it feels. Had a parking lot "test drive" with the Trance and I liked the upright position. Will see of I can get onto a Remedy and Ghost this weekend!

If that's the case, then he should take his budget and height and go purchase based on that :)

I had the RT5700 and RT7500, nice looking bikes and a lot faster than the Trance but had a more forward position and those two models are nowhere near as much fun on a track as what the Trance is...my opinion mind you!

Not sure if you are in JHB area but the guys at Ballistic Bike Trading who bring in Ghost have a little area in the veld where you can ride the bikes.

Now thats Light hearted banter... Not being rude and calling people wankers off topic. And no Andrew Maclean is Not my father, Darth Vader on the other hand....

Who was riding the bike?

I have had the Trance 26", Giant XTC, Spez Epic and now the Spez Camber 29"

I have posted this else where, Your riding skill will determine what you find to be the best bike.

I started with the Trance, easy bike to ride and gave confidence on the downhills. The epic has a steeper head and seat tube angle and I struggled to find confidence in the bike on downhills. then moved to the camber, feels like a hybrid between the Trance and Epic, a bit slacker and a bit more forgiving. Thus, making me feel more confident and in the end enjoy the ride more....

So, the real question is....how well do you ride ?

Thanks, that was very informative, I am still working on my skills, I can land a jump/drop off and do a technical piece without stopping in corners/berms. Still come off the bike now and then. Still a lot of work to get that flowy feeling going. So probably looking for something that is a bit forgiving so that I can build up confidence.

Remedy Remedy Remedy Remedy!!!!!!

you'll get slightly less bang for your buck in terms of components, that said the shimano builds are fraking solid, and you'll have one of the best handling bikes around. Lifetime warranty on the frame, five years on the rear triangle, one year on Bars Stem Saddle Wheels Seatpost, anything bontrager basically,

Would buy 5 of them right now if i could. If you can Demo ride the above bikes do it, But REMEDY!!! will win

They're such easy bikes to ride but put a pro on one and it'l be the fastest in the park. Rear suspension is so clever, Just keep it serviced

The trance is well priced and the Epic is a super chillaxed ride. Would consider the Epic after the remedy.

Like the specialized but haven't had to much time on one, they will definitely be a good ride tho. Check out KTM also, love my Ultra Sport HT. But as you might have noticed i still think REMEDY!!

Thanks for everyone's input! At the end I went for the Giant Trance 27.5 2 version. Best value for money and I felt really comfortable on the bike. I will receive it next week and will post some pics.

Good choice. You chose wisely Miyagi. I too joined the Giant family not to long ago and dig the feel. Maestro suspension is legendary for a reason. Enjoy the trails.

Thanks for the replys so far. I am currently riding a medium hardtail frame which is a 29er. Had a spin on my wife's Merida Big Seven 300 27.5 and it was a lot more "flicky" in the corners and easier to manage.

You should feel a 26er!
