Is the Emperor's Road Race Manageable- 1st Timer

I don't disagree with those saying do the shorter distance first, but the question was "will the 100km be manageable", and my answer is yes. I say this as someone who did his first 94.7 years ago with 3 training rides, longest being about 40km. If he has done 60 somewhere like the cradle, he will handle 100km on the flat Emperors course...

But sure, 60km will be a good intro to a race environment, the big bunches etc. But it also depends on his personality and reasons for doing the race - if he wants a challenge he should go the whole hog anddo the 100. He already knows he can do 60 - so where's the challenge in that?

Thanks again everyone. Unfotunately something came up and I won't be able to do the race :(

However I relly want to get in gear for the 94.7 this year.

I hope to try the Durban race this month if work commitments can be managed.

If I can ride a 45kg tricycle (3speed) with billboards front and back and have a AVG speed of 18kph you can do it....

Although I have been called Superman lol.....

But your AVG is 15kph so darn its along day in the saddle...

FYI my longest ride on the tricycle was 7hrs 20mins.....

Best 94.7 was 4hrs 50mins

Amashova took me 6hrs 30mins

I also think it can be done. I have done my first 94.7 in 2012 (Did it in 6H15) no training and a friends MTB and the last time I was on a bike was in 1984, so you can do it. There will be no big bunch riding in your start group.
