Flip that's why I don't see my result on racetec. Know this is a way of ppa to get more members, but flip I want to build up some good times to improve my starting time for the karoo 2 coast and now the first race good one is not showing.

well judging by my time for this race, you can start at the back of K2C with me haha ;)

Its one of the long debated flaws of PPA races, only paid up PPA members results show on racetec, so its never really a true reflection of attendance and position, there might have 250 entrants but Racetec will only show 130...It will mostly affect the back markers tho as guys that race for position will want to see results and can only start in seeded groups if they are paid up members, the TEMP boards you see are those that probably dont care about results etc

Agree, have long given up on this, especially for the smaller mtb events the PPA results are useless for anything other than showing the time you rode. I just go out and enjoy the ride and ignore the results.

I think I lost my title . This year I am def last.

Not my cup of tea. I just wish I can remember this next year BEFORE the race and not DURING the race when everything comes back like a nightmare.

It not my fitnes or my abilty to climb it is just not my type of race. ... and today I made peace with that.

Last weekend we did a 110km ride with a 1500m climb. This weekend I pushed my bike (I dont push my bike) on 22km .....shattered with nothing in my leggs.

I feel your pain, I've been doing a few 60km - 100km training rides post Argus but on Saturday after 30km's I was dying, felt like crawling underneath a tree and just stay there. Thank heavens the last 10km was flat, another climb would have been my end.

Timo came in 3rd (although, the guy in 2nd place might be someone who bailed at the 30km mark), Johan Rabie, another machine from Malmesbury was 1st. Think Timo just took it easy after his oversees stage race which he won and pocketed 15000pounds! alot of mula, I saw it on SuperCycling

Realy BrandonF . Please , the guy who came second was Nicol Carstens from Slanghoek. He is a great rider who has SA colours for xco. He is sponcerd by BMC . He is only 18 years old.

I don't think he was being like that at all. He just didn't know who he was. Now you have cleared it up. Was only 25 minutes behind these guys on my SS.

The name that BrandonF was refering to was not Nicol Carstens. At that time I actually went to check on Racetec. It was a rider with only one result and that being the Breede rivier callenge and he came 2nd. I know of Nicol Carstens and would have recognised his name.

His name ( the unknown rider) is removed now, putting Timo 2nd and Nicol 3rd

The 46km route was really good fun and easily rideable. Nothing too hard at all. Well done to the organizers for a really good event. The shower at the end was icing on the cake. This is a must do for future years. Very well done to all who rode and made this day an excellent one.

As route builder I would like you to answer the following please. 46km to short? Where would you like to increase the distance, beginning, or middle or last flat part. How much climbing would you guys like there to be 1350 , 1400, 1500?

Would like your input on these questions to build the route and single track to your liking. Please let me know

Thanx

Louis

Ha ha wrong person to ask. I came almost last.

Not my type of riding. Although I would enjoy the route, but at my pace . I get nervous with someone behind me on the singletrack and end up giving track to the whole field. Leaving me last. ^_^

Everyone else I spoke to after the ride enjoyed it . Most of them remarked that if the last part was not flat they would not have made it. :D Lots of singletrack and climbing which makes up for a nice challenge.

This is the second year I attempted the long route and the parts that was left out this year did not really make a big difference . Well .... for someone like me it was nice as I could take a breather and make up for lost time on that parts that was left out. ( If I remember correctly it was a climb though the vineyards and the gravel road at the end was def longer). :)

Now that we cleared the misunderstanding. I think because 99% of "fun rides" in and around Cape Town consists of three distances, usually 5-15km short, 20-45km medium and 50-65km long, its kind of an expectation of a long route to be 50-65km. In fact two years ago the Breederivier was at 55km, and you expect to be out on the bike 3-4hours on the long routes, you get what I'm saying, suffering for your money's worth! The climbs were good, single track was good maybe a spread over all areas of the route to get to atleast 55km, and yeah 1500m ascend wont hurt either!

Thanx . I 'll change it . The time frame they gave me was to short to develop the route to my choice.

In May I am starting with the Slanghoek cellar's Mountain2mountain route. There I have much more to build and change. Starting with a 4km xc track behind the cellar.

Looking forward and I 'll keep you guys updated. Would like to have you and friends for a pre-run before the event.

Mads, you really don't need to worry about the guy behind you on the single track. You paid exactly the same amount to ride the race. You have exactly the same right to be there then the next guy riding.

Thanx

Louis
