There is a sample programme on for Joberg2c. The Sani programme is very similar.

Jeroen and Mike are the top sport scientists in the country, IMO, and it shows.

Thanks found it.

My problem is that during the week I can only do IDT, these programmes don't seem to take that into consideration, it would be nice to have a guide 2 hours on bike equivalent to x hours on IDT.

Max time I can do on IDT is 1.5hours or should I be splitting it 1 hour in am and 1 hour pm?

I also only do IDT during the week. I guess it's up to you to simulate real riding conditions, as far as possible, on the IDT. It get's really boring when you have to do the long zone 2 rides on the trainer, so I try and go out on the road for those, but I prefer doing intervals on the trainer. It's just more controlled.

But I'll be honest, 2 hours on an IDT would kill me. I make sure I do all the intervals I need to, but cut down on the warmp up, warm down and recovery times to make the time on the IDT a bit more reasonable. Not ideal, I know, but a neccesary compromise due to time.

get some sufferfest downloads

http://www.thesufferfest.com/

I have a lot of those and they are great. Last year and the year before I trained mostly with sufferfest vids or Jamie Morton mp3s during the week. But even though it makes you fit it just felt like a haphazard approach to training. Almost like my approach was ride as much as hard as fast and as far as possible every time you ride. It makes you fit, but you still want to peak at a specific point in time (during Sani), which this does not give you.

Base fitness...but all good. As long as you have a degree in sports I am happy to accept your answer.

no but i can read

Awesome, then read this.

You need base fitness for cycling. You need to put in tits. Simple as that. Interval training helps nothing now. Get your legs, and lungs in training for distance aka get your base training up as much as possible.

This is a request to all experianced MTBers

I am well behind on my Sani2c training, what can i do to maximize my fitness/hill climbing ability before the 14th of May?

I work Monday-Friday 7am-6pm.

I have an indoor trainer and gym memebership

I have done the two previous Sani2c, but not much riding after that.

Please give me some idea how I can rescue my Sani2c

I have maybe put in 60km a week over the last 5, with 1000-1250m climbing, with hi intensity , I just feel like i am no were compaired with last year.

But i think 4 weeks is enough to get me to at least fitness level for a comfortable finish.

Just many early mornings and late nights......

i did read this though, and based upon the aforementioned OP has some base fitness.

edit: he clearly said he is behind on his training, not "i have not trained at all"

but I do apologise oh knowledgeable one, i will recuse myself from the thread so you can bless the other posters with your presence and knowledge.

Wow - you say that with such conviction.

Please give us an idea of the race results you have achieved with this programme?
