Thx The Search for a great event, and Im so chuffed to see so many entrants daring the conditions, this will keep the GT going for many years to come, the best signage on any race ive ever done and single track to make any junkie happy. First race I did with a 1x10 setup and absolutely loved it, I am so glad I entered this race, see you next year!

PS: where can we see the results?

After my mechanicals today, I'm definitely changing to 1 x 10. 2nd wet race spoilt by mechanicals.

This race, for me wouldve been the ultimate test on a 1x10 setup, long climbs, fast flats, and I can honestly say, besides one or two short steep climbs where you had to just power it up for a couple of meters, I have not felt lack or need on either end of the spectrum, it just works! And yeah, the conditions did not leave me stranded either as it did two years ago! 32T upfront + 11-36 cassette, and you're sorted

Or just get tougher gear. I had no issues on my XT with 2 XTR blades up front. And even with a 1 X 10 system you have to have a rear derailleur. But I do think I might need new brake pads after this race. The grinding noise had me worried a few times. I will check tomorrow how much the wear on them were.

I might have to aswell, had to feather brake the last 20km on every descend, as there were no sudden stopping power when needed

32T with 11-36 definitely better than my 42 with 11-32 cassette which I was stuck with for half of the race    .

I rode my practice bike today. Believe it or not, Specialized spec it with many different parts. The only part on the bike that was shitmano, was the rear derailer. And it broke. My favourite bike has full XO groupset, never ever any issues. This is the second time my derailer broke on my Stumpjumper. Guess what I am replacing it with. Xo for sure.

Here are the results, but seems to me Great Time timing aren't that great, as myself and a friend' time aren't even up, my time was 3h58mins...Anyway, not to worry, I wont win any prizes anyway with a 17th spot haha

Ok, wow quickest response on a submitted query I have ever seen, Welldone "Great Time"!

Mistakes happen

It appear that at registration they gave me a wrong number, 155 instead of 154, so my result just shows under another name, happy with 18th

X0 wont give you any problems if you only use it in fair weather :whistling:

Luckily for me it never gives problems. Maybe I am unlucky, but 2 derailers in 3 months seems wrong to me. New one has done maybe 200km. Last one 500 if that.

I'd send them in for warranty claims, that does not seem right for it to break so quickly

Unfortunately not much left of it, bent and absolutely destroyed. Went into the rear wheel. Besides the financial loss, I was quite sad not to finish the race, especially since it happened after all the climbs were done, and mostly downhills were left. But thanks for the advice.
