Hi

Is it possible to convert a Mavic crosstrail to 15mm TA? Will I need a conversion kit,or a new wheel for this? Looking at getting a new fork but will have to factor this into my costs before I commit....

Btw...the wheels are a few years old...not sure of the year model though

One some of the mavic hubsets you get adaptors, you might be lucky seeing that yours is a year old. Get your LBS to help you otherwise get hold of Dragon Sports, the local agents for Mavic

Thanx for the replies...will talk to LBS and Dragon Sports after the long wknd to see what can be done.

Is the difference between the two configurations regarding stiffness alone worth the change? (never ridden a TA bike)

Also, I am assuming I can only pair the mavic wheel with mavic hubs....?

Best is to fit new hub.

Not that simple. Mavic's agents in SA are a joke. You can only fit a Mavic hub, and they have to do it for you, and that will need to include a new set of spokes on top of the shipping and build cost if you're not in Cape Town, and Mavic's spokes ain't the cheapest. And this is assuming that it's possible to just buy a suitable hub, and then of course, if they even have stock.

T Axle provides for stiffer wheelset, but truth be told it is not the be all end all of wheelsets and is only worthwhile doing if you have no other choice but to upgrade to new wheelset i.e. New frame/ fork that requires TA
