  1. Hi there guys. I came down Franschhoek pass and spotted some cement in the road as you make your way down the pass back to Franschhoek. It's quite a bump and could possibly make someone go down so just a warning... It's close to the bottom of the pass heading back to Franschhoek (town) and probably 20m from the entrance of La Petite Ferme (you'll see the sign on the left hand side of the road and I've attached it on the photos) Cheerz, be safe!
  2. I honestly can't remember... but I can't think that there's 2 x Hummers in Paarl πŸ˜‚πŸ§ the fact that the black color has a dark blue tinge to it makes me feel it might be him because to me the paintjob looked more blue than black. Rather not deflate his tyres... might be the wrong Hummer 😝
  3. When we got safely back to the car in the parking lot... my first comment was: "Who still drives a Hummer in 2023" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜
  4. Hi everyone. Just an update. The link to this forum was posted on Facebook. Someone, in the cycling community, has reached out to me on Facebook about the incident. They have contact with a detective. This is his message to me this morning: "Just an update. My friend is looking into this incident and a very stern warning will be given to this idiot."
  5. Will be back on the bike tomorrow. Got green blocks to tick on Training Peaks. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Thanks @'Dale, appreciate!
  6. Update... The driver of the Hummer is renting from the owner of the water tanks up on du Toitskloof. The owner of those water tanks just got back to me and said that unfortunately he couldn't find anything on the camera footage. I call total BS... backing a buddy here. So in short... be very careful, and on tbe lookout for a black hummer with CJ registration plates, when riding up du toitskloof pass. Stay safe on the roads guys and girls!!
  7. Update... Black Hummer H2. Paarl registration plates. Sorry to the GP guys on here... I didn't mean to offend you πŸ˜‚
  8. Update. I got hold of the owner of the water tanks where he went in. Got a name and surname. He will send me footage of the gate. Paarl registration plates - black hummer H2.
  9. Jip. We had to make a u-turn and he stood there for a while waiting for us.
  10. I made contact with the 2 riders coming up the pass. And his words were "it's almost like he deliberately tried to run us over" Interesting question @Jbr, I wonder how this would be handled by law. Definitely not a nice experience... riding down the rest of the pass, looking behind us every 10sec just to make sure he doesn't come back.
  11. This morning we went out for a ride up and over Du Toitskloof pass. On our way back coming down the pass (direction Paarl) a navy blue Hummer (GP registration plates) came flying past us and almost took us out - super super close call. (Around 09:50) The guy then cut the next corner almost taking out 2 riders coming up the pass. He then pulled off on the right side of the road and picked up a rock and as we came down he started running across the road to be in our lane. Luckily we had some time and made a u-turn to avoid any confrontation. Luckily he then left - went down a road where he pulled off. Picture uploaded where he went in.

  13. Had an issue with my 2023 Orbea Orca front thru axle. Cycle Lab had stock of the original thru axle and they are busy with a warranty process on the faulty thru axle. Great support in my opinion!
  14. He is still at the emergency unit. Looks like a badly fractured fore arm and stitches on chin. Also going in for a CT scan just to be safe. Wishing him a speedy recovery πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏻
  15. Exactly my plan. Hence the "no deal" at the end. ????
  16. Unfortunately same story again. Was going to take the bike to courier Monday morning, then after asking him he says he'll take it during his lunch... And then no reply after I asked him of the bike has been send or not... DEFINITELY NOT A SCAMMER, but an extremely confusing/difficult guy to deal with... No deal.
  17. UPDATE ON THE STORY: Shae_SA is willing to sort everything out (on his way to the courier now). He is also willing to ship the bike to me and let me pay once I receive the bike and I'm happy with everything. I'll keep you guys posted. Maybe this can end in a positive story after all.
  18. Pretty much the idea that I got from this guy... I even phoned him at work this morning just to ask him to explain the entire story... He apologized, but no explanation to all the weird stories he, clearly, made up.
  19. Edited my rating. ????
  20. Completely understand man. I guess I "trusted" him as he works as a sales guy at a cycling shop. I don't want to mention the name of the shop because it would be negative exposure for the shop, and they have nothing to do with the transaction. Like I've said, multiple lessons learned from this.
  21. Lesson learned for sure!
  22. Unfortunately I gave this hubber a good rating after our transaction on Wednesday 22nd of July... Not knowing that a 4 day nightmare was about to start. I paid him for a Scott Foil RC that he advertised. We made a deal that I'll pay 22k and send him my Ultegra parts. I paid Wednesday and dropped off the groupset at Postnet the Thursday and immediately send him the tracking number. He, can't confirm, send the bike on the Thursday but I never recieved a waybill number from him for that shipment. I asked about it, but no response. Then Friday morning he lets me know that the bike came back because he didn't declare that is has a battery (Di2) inside. I then understand this and say it's no problem. He then sends the bike off on Friday (according to him with super express) and the battery with postnet. Once again, no waybill number for the bike and can't provide it even when asked multiple times... He then provides me with a postnet tracking number for the di2 battery after I asked him for it multiple times. Tracking the number I find that it is a package that is going from Cape Town (3 Anchor Bay) to JHB (Broadacres). I inform him that it must be the wrong tracking number... Because I stay in Cape Town and he stays in JHB. He then, once again after asking and bugging and pushing him multiple times, he confirms that he gave me the wrong tracking number... But he doesn't give me the correct one... I have to phone him to ask for the correct one... Then he spins another story that his mom read the tracking number for him and he realized that the last number on the tracking number is wrong... It should be a 5 not a 6. Tracking that number... Finding out that the new "correct" tracking number is a fake one. Mr Shae then denies and says it can't be and he doesn't understand it and and and... Then I kept on asking for the waybill number of the bike... He then comes with another story, after ignoring me for some time, that the bike is already in Cape Town but the courier company is closed for a couple of days because they had a Covid positive case (creative I must say). Phoning the courier company this morning and providing them with all the detail that I have (yet no waybill number) we actually managed to trace down the bike... With all of the detail confirmed be me (my personal detaeand delivery address and and) the lady then brakes the news that the bike hasn't even been picked up in JHB yet. Mr Shae still says that the bike has left. He also says that he doesn't know where the bike is. This he did over his work phone because for some reason my phone calls don't go through anymore, but if I phone from another number it goes through... Strange Luckily my Ultegra parts has a legit Postnet tracking number (it's on its way back) and FNB confirmed this morning that the payment, he paid back my money, is legitimate and it will reflect in my account either today or tomorrow. I have all the whatsapps to prove that what I said here is true. I will never ever recommend him to anyone...
  23. Power meters are available in the following: 1.) Crankset (stages, infocrank, pioneer and SRM) 2.) Hub (Powertap) 3.) Pedals (Powertap and Garmin) 4.) HR monitor (Powercal by Powertap) but then it works with calculated power) If you want to use one powermeter on both bikes... then your best option will be to go for powermeter pedals. However, I'm not sure if they make powermeter MTB specific pedals. So you'll have to use road pedals on the MTB. Might be better to buy a smart trainer (built-in powermeter) and use both bikes on it. Only disadvantage is that you won't be able to race with a powermeter.
