I'll let TitusTi give the advice here, but would like to second what he's saying: ride conservatively, stretch often (I had to stop for a few mins on my last few laps last year which cost me laps) and eat frequently.

I also find that it's easier mentally to keep going all day/night if you break it down into small chunks. Do 4 or 6 laps at a time and just concentrate on that. After that, stop briefly and then start the next set.

Good luck and enjoy.

I should really be good at 24hour races....I'm the expert in going slow.....Big%20smile

How do you think I do my base training, I don't like stretching it out over a month or 2. Go in, go hard for 24 hours, sleep for 2 days and that's it base training over. Now you can move on and start with the training that hurts.

Thanks CVANC. I still can't believe it. Until I move - the pain from every part of my body reminds me...

Yet again Dirtopia put on a great event. A little bit disapointing at the turnout, but for those that were there, a great 24hrs of riding was had.

TitusTi and Shaun took the solo racing to each other, with a blistering pace set up front. For several hours they were putting in the 2nd and third best lap times (only being beaten by a 4 man team).

Unfortunately for Shaun, a seal in his shock failed, and that was the end of his ride (I think at about 5pm).

The winning team did 72 laps, with the first solo rider doing 56 laps (that was TitusTi - well done). Each lap was 7km long.

I saw several (could have been only one - I saw lots of things that weren't really there, like giant chickens and black cats) riders wearing TheHubSA.co.za kit - looked pretty cool...

Thanks guys! For those that yelled from the sidelines, it was cool! Velouria, that was one hell of a race young man, pushed me all the way and kept me honest, thanks for that (all sarcasm intended). The start was too hard by half. Was just looking at my HR readouts, I was averaging over 160 for the first 6 hours! Ridiculous! Learnt many a lesson for World Champs, first among them is start slowly! PS, if anyone knows of potential sponsors....
