it was at 17km in. We still had 18km to go with No rear brakes

jip. The problem is that felt is no longer available in south Africa

Yeah, was worlds view sports that brought it in.they went belly up so not sure who supports them now. No one I know of at least,

Good luck in trying to do a warranty claim. My road bike frame cracked after 5 months....local supplier gone....Felt International declined the claim. Think twice before buying this brand in the future.

Then another guy cracked his MTB frame and got a new frame shipped to him within 2 weeks.

They all seem to break there. Mine also. The stay wasn't designed to take the stress from the brake at that spot on the stay.

I did not succeed with a claim.

I would have had to import a rear swing arm.

But then I discovered Weidemans Welding in Bloem.

They specialise in all sorts of welding including aircraft welding.

I took my frame in, got it back the next day. Cost was a whole R120.00 .

They repaired the crack and then welded a bead around that area. This is to ensure that the area is strong enough to take the braking stress there.

Nobody has ever noticed that the frame was repaired.

They furthermore guaranteed me that the stay will never break again after they repaired it.

Months later and I have been riding the bike hard with no problems.

 

If you don't come right, you can courier the stay to me. I will have it repaired and courier back.
