Hi all

With my Garmin Edge 500 it use to auto power down after 10 min, when I switched it on my ride was still there to just start/continue again.

I could stop it at any time, without it asking me if I want to safe/reset it.

It only saved it when I did the reset as a indication that the ride has been completed.

The 810 wants to save the ride the minute I do a stop/pause via the button bottom right.

And insult to injury, while being paused/stopped it auto powered off and went and through my ride/first 1/2 away.

Please help.

Hi V12,

I've found the auto off and disabled that.

but not sure that will sudo save the file so that when I switch it back on, after manually switching it off my ride will still be there.

Have confirmed with another 810 owner he switches his unit off whn they do an extended coffee stop, when he switches it back on he just resumes the ride.

aka how the E500 acted.

where's the auto stop/start located?

You can configure auto power off, auto stop and auto start on the device - you just have to set it up like you want it.

the 810 and 510 both have that annoying auto save feature when you press stop. i have an 800 and a 510. if i want to temporarily stop the 510 i just hit stop then when the save/delete screen comes up, just press one of the sideways arrows to get back to a normal screen. i wouldn't bother turning it off if i was stopping for coffee say, even if it was an hour or so, id just do what i said above and then hit start when i got going again. I'm sure itl be the same with an 810. that removes the risk of deleting it by mistake. its a stupid feature. id definitely turn off the auto power off, its never going to be a good thing, itl always be turning itself off when you don't want it to!
