To my friends in SA,

Vulpine Performance clothing has been a topic down there for a while of how to get it. The brand does ship there and right now is having a sample sale. I recommend taking a look.

With savings of up to 50% the exchange rate is well in your favour.

Go to www.vulpine.cc

They are also going to be working more with 'thehub' on product testing and other connections.

Hi Dave...

Please note that for it to be considered a proper saving we would have to work in the amount of VAT applicable to importing clothes...its heavily penalized in SA

It's a good point, the sample sale is 50% of retail, also the 20% UK VAT comes off and then you are looking at 14% being added on in SA VAT from what I can see.

Nope, clothes specifically attract more VAT if you import into SA, somewhere in the region of 30% if I am not mistaken.

So if that is the case it means at the sale price with this added back on it makes it just a little cheaper than the current UK retail price, so still a saving.

Sure still a saving, but then you would have to compete against locally manufactured prices which dont get penalized. I am not trying to put you off here, just telling you about the reality we are facing here in SA.

WARNING! We brought in some Star Wars COSTUMES from the UK in 2012 - not regular clothing - and we were nailed almost 100% of the value/sale price by Customs (VAT, excise, duty and random/thumb-suck charges). In addition, we had to go collect the clothing IN PERSON from Customs despite having paid the courier charge. They will not listen to any reasoning or argument - you pay and leave with your stuff or they "destroy" it. WARNING!
