I went into Solomons yesterday to get AC fitted to my Comp Epic. It turns out that the axle does not fit Specialized bikes. Hyper frustrating!

I had the same issue initially. Because Spez are 142+ they need to fit a spacer with the 15mm conversion. I had it done on mine and works perfectly.

Just change the axle. On AC it's not adapters. Is easily done. I have the same 142x12 on my momsen

And no silly spokes

+1 for this!

My Fulcrum Red Metals have been awesome for 4 years, but I broke a spoke on the Drakensburg drop. I did not bring my spare wheels along, and nobody had a replacement spoke. I had to ride 2 stages of Berg and Bush with a buckled rear wheel. A replacement spoke cost about R250 just for the spoke. I won't buy mtb wheels with proprietary spokes again.

Nope, but I've read many a story. And if they say that it doesn't fit specialised...

Well they right its doesn't fit a Special needs bike. So they need to find out where they can get the parts.

Be careful with blanket generalisations ( which you appear to dislike so much) on shops just because you read it on the hub.

Every retailer has a following and has people with different levels of competency working at the establishment.

I've been to Solomons several times and don't find them to be bad. They're not one of top rated shops but I don't spend nearly as much time there as I would in say William's or Epic or Bridge.

So if you've never been there, remember you're passing on third hand info. rather say that there have been several bad reports. But in this case the crit is unwarranted.

Where did you get it done? Solomons have just come back to me and said there is no adapter!

BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

They're wrong. Get his LBS's details, or go to Wyatt at Summit Cycles, or a spaz concept store and they'll be able to help you.

Likely spaz won't sell the adaptor to solomons

"Likely" means you're making a wild, unsubstantiated allegation.

Exactly what you b!tched about in your comment, above.

Hypocrisy much?
