Background: When I was +_ 17 years old, I ate prawns and got very sick - ended up in hospital. The doctor told me that I am allergic to shellfish and ultimately Iodine.

Since then, I made a conscious decision to avoid iodine (even multivitamins containing iodine).

Fast forward 24 years. I am not a healthy person. I suffer from Diabetes, asthma, and multiple allergies (recently tested positive for 11 out of 12 allergens during a skin test.

I have a very weak immune system (lost my spleen during a motorbike accident) and I suffer from chronic bronchitis / pneumonia. I even contracted Legionnaires disease a few years ago.

I stumbled onto information on Iodine Deficiency on the internet and watched a movie "Iodine: The Most Misunderstood Nutrient Presented by David Brownstein MD".

This got me thinking that I may have a severe iodine deficiency. I've mixed my own "Lungol's Solution" and painted a patch on my inner arm. (Low tech allergy and deficiency test)

I am not allergic to iodine and according to the test, I am severely deficient. I stated taking a few drops of my solution per day for the last 3 months.

One thing that I can mention is that I have not visited the ER or my GP in the last 3 months. (Which is very unusual for me). I still have a bit of post nasal drip and cough but otherwise I am healthy. There has been no affect on my Blood sugar control directly but Indirectly it has improved because I have not been sick and I also did not need to take antibiotics or cortisone during the last 3 months.

I am not a doctor and I am not giving medical advice. I think it is a very interesting topic and there could be merit in the research.

It would be interesting to get input on this topic from our Good Doctor.

Interesting info, strengths to you to overcome.

I have learnt to keep an eye on the whole, the human body/mind works as a unit, a problem/deficiency in one area can create issues/compensation in another. Stress/how you feel/outlook I have noticed is a big factor with health in general.
