The new track at Thaba promises to dish up loads of action for riders and spectators alike. It's a great opportunity to join beginners, weekend warriors and some of SA's best from the saddle or the sidelines.

Just a note that Sean is referring to the Gauteng Provincial Champs which will be held at Thaba this weekend. The details on the poster above are for the South African National Champs that will be held on the same track next weekend.

Ride both if you can!

Perviously I had the opinion that a decent 150-160mm travel single crown bike was sufficient for DH in SA.

Thanks to the new top section at Thaba, my opinion has changed...

One of the juniors, Matt Minter did it on his single crown on the weekend and I've seen Peach crush the Cascades course on his 160mm Kalula so it is doable but I quite like the extra bit of assurance that a DH rig offers. I saw a couple shots of guys bottoming out their suspension properly on Sunday.

Kalula is 180mm ;)

I def wouldn't go less than 180 on the new Thaba track.
