RocknRolla Posted July 24, 2014 Share one can see on the second last photo how the bearing has scoured the race.
Bizkit031 Posted July 24, 2014 Share Looks like the bearing is not right down on the crown race,if the crown race goes on skew it will throw it all out. RocknRolla
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted July 24, 2014 Share Probably the wrong crown race. Contrary to popular belief, they're NOT all the same. Some of them are chamfered at different angles, and will foul when used with the wrong bearing. RocknRolla
droo Posted July 24, 2014 Share It'll probably be easier to find a new bearing than a new crown race, but head down to a workshop-oriented LBS with the race and the bearing and see what they can do for you. Daniel J Méssem Posted July 27, 2014 Share ok, i took the headset apart, and it seems the crown and lower bearing does not quite meet up properly. The angles od the crown race and the bearing race does not properly meet up. if pressure is applied to the bearing, it slips off the race, then sits unaligned. This is then causing the mis-alignement and scraping sound when turning the handlebars. Is assume the lower bearing is not 100% correct.or the crown race is not the right one. photos attached Are the top and bottom brarings the same?  Looking at the pics in the onone website the bottom bearing should have a 45 degree edgebon thebinside of the bottom to mate with the crown

Did extensive testing over the weekend, and it's all good. Captain Fastbastard Mayhem and Bizkit031
