Rear shock position

Oh, I see it was like this before:

No Idea why they changed it, probably did some R & D and came up with Maestro which worked better?

 

That's still Maestro, afaik. Just a different shock positioning.

this must be one the sexiest bikes ever made !

 

i so lusted after one of these for a looooooooong time - still do.

That's still Maestro, afaik. Just a different shock positioning.

 

Yup. They just changed the orientation of the shock to make more space in the main triangle. Having the wiper seal at the bottom also means that it's constantly lubricated.

 

Kinematics are pretty close to the newer Maestro, just a few tweaks to the rocker linkage.

Yeah. Gave them an extra 0.5 inches of travel in the back.

Attaching the shock a third of the way up the down tube just doesn't look like as strong as right next to the BB. Down tubes are quite thin walled in that area. Maybe they encountered problems with the old design?
