I have not seen anything else on the forums as yet.

Koeberg is officially closed to riders without a permit as of the 16th July 2014.

We popped in to do an easy ride yesterday Sunday 27th July.

We were turned away at the gate and were told, we needed at least one of us to have a permit, in order to ride.

Permits can be obtained during office ours Mon - Fri and they are free of charge.

From a previous thread posted by Iwan Kemp "Go to ACP1 at Koeberg during office hours ( usually 7am - 5pm during the week). Take with you your ID Book and 1 x ID Photo and fill in the required forms. Wait one day to fetch your new Koeberg Nature Reserve Cycling Permit.

For more info: (021) 5504021"

There are often reason for not being able to ride in terms of maintenance/refuelling so its always best to phone prior to being disappointed at the gate. They also change their minds regularly so just get the permit and be done with it.

yes, same happened to me last weekend.

Tried both gates and at one gate the guy said if someone else came with a permit we could go with them.

The other gate we were leaving when someone arrived and they still turned us away.

Funny enough we ran out of time and actually would not have been able to ride the 23km.

Wouldn't an online info service or on a smartphone app make a world of difference? A quick notice from an administrator, or the first rider there, would ensure others know what's going on where.
