So there you have it ... as agreed by all sensible people who love mtn biking and a good down line the tree line in question is a down path only. Its also only for mtn bikes and not dog walkers , or trail runners . Why . Because its a bike path that was created by mtn bikers for the down hill run.The pioneers never rode up the path to create it . Before this creation there was far more friction and danger when everybody used to use the path next to the river and dam .Dog walkers , runners, mtn bikers ,stoned picnic lovers all used to congregate at various points and speeds leading to lots of fear and loathing and thus a solution was created to keep mtn bikers from the rest and so they could enjoy a nice bit of technical down without knocking anyone down or squashing any dogs. SO ITS A DOWN LINE OK !.As for the rest of the park ride respectfully and carefully within limits.

There used to be a sign indicating a separate line for the up ride. The Spruit Fairies installed the secondary route about 15 months ago if my memory serves me correct. The up route can/could be found further away from the fence. It worked well at the beginning.

I only ride that route in the same direction as the OP.

RossW is on the money.

The Spruit Fairies built that line with the intention that it runs as a down line. Later on, and to avoid collisions, they cut a secondary line (as mentioned) for those riding up.

There are a few other lines on the spruit that the fairies have built as intended down lines, and they have provided alternative up lines to reduce the chance of head-ons.

For example: (blue = down, red = up)

The Bundaberg Line:

The Hurlingham Line:

The River Line:

But in general, one can tell which lines were built as descents by the direction of the jumps and kickers.

Iz OK, just remind said old lady that it was HER responsibility to keep the much-loved little yapper on a leash...and that she is solely responsible for the AGONISING DEATH of sweet little Yorkster...Also, it helps to calm things down if you offer ZAR50 towards funeral costs for the pooch that has passed on...

you are such a stuck record on dogs. I personally want to give a medal to the dog that bit you. Get over it and move on, PAH-LEEEZ

Sometimes I do wonder if I am on a cycling forum or a dog activist forum. Have to double check just in case
