I am actually blown away by CRC at the moment...

I needed a specific item, which Buycyle.co.za listed as being in stock (suprisingly, as it's quite a rare item in SA). Having been burnt by Buycylce a few times previously for ordering items listed as being "in stock", which then in fact weren't and took 3+ weeks for them to source and deliver, I sent Buycycle a message to confirm that its was in stock... Of course it wasn't, but they at least offered to contact the local agent and get back to me.... still waiting a number of days later.

Yesterday I happened to be brousing CRC and found the exact item I need on sale (35% off - bonus!). Found a few other items I need on sale (all 30-45% off) so decided to just place an order, and spring the R200ish for DHL shipping.

Placed order yesterday at 10h24.

Received an email from CRC at 16h02 saying order has been dispatched.

SMS at 00h24 this morning from DHL saying package it has arrived in the country.

DHL phones me 08h30 this morning and emails with clearance payment details.

Paid, and should recieve my order later today or tomorrow.

Wish SA online retailers could provide this kind of service...

I wonder what the record is for DHL shipping from crc to in your hand in Sa?

Your delivery must be pretty close!

Suppose you hit a lucky break with your order being placed at the perfect time relative to the DHL collections at crc and the DHL freight flight to Sa, also helps with the Sa part of the delivery if you are in a major center.

I placed an order a couple weeks back.

Ordered around this time on a Tuesday night, had my new saddle in my hands around 2pm on the Friday.

Question - I ordered Brakes from CRC on Friday and Saturday I received an sms saying my parcel is waiting custom clearance, but I phoned them today and ask when I will receive it and they said it was only picked up today in Belfast and I should have it by Wednesday. Apparently they do this so that there is no hold up when the package enters the country. IS THIS TRUE?

PS ordered a parts with normal post 2 weeks ago and it took only 10 working days to get to me.

Yip -  I checked the timeline on my order and I got my SMS saying that my parcel is waiting custom clearance when it was in fact still in the DHL distribution centre in the UK.  They obvioulsy do some kind of pre clearance to streamline customs when it phisically arrives.  Think the local DHL also contacted me to pay the VAT before the package had physically arrived in the country.

Did receive my package within 2 business days.
