Roadies please help a mtb'er who is considering getting a road bike. Have no idea about the age. Its a 54cm with sti levers and compagnolo rims. No idea what groupset but it doesnt look too bad. Price is R1000-00.

Going to have a look tomorrow. Have the idea of respraying it with plasti dip and applying a bit of elbow grease amd then use it on trainer or long rides

You need to check all the lugs for hairline cracks. I had one and just about every lug was cracked. its a fantastic bike for collectors, but i seriously wouldnt use one as an every day bike.

The Lugs being the silver sections? Really thinking I should get it depending on condition of groupset. It should be fine for the occasional fun ride and for use on idt etc

Thanks Vetseun. After a disasterous winter season Im afraid I will have to take over your name. So maybe a new toy will assist in getting rid of some flab

Just to give you an idea, I bought an Alan in 1983 full Campagnolo super record. 2nd hand and paid R1000. So you can say they hold their value.......good investment.

Ok so I got it....she looks lovely and has a Shimano 105 groupset as well. With a bit of spit and polish this classic will soon grace the roads.pics to follow

But lovely bikes, she's almost certainly worth more than R1k, if lugs intact.

Frame is anodised, so painting is a no no!

Beautiful, rubbery ride, but amazingly comfortable.
