Good work bro, glad to see it's all coming together. Maybe get some local graffiti artist to do so some 'cycle' related art on the containers. Will look really cool I think

Very true, maybe the school kids can do something for arts and culture! Im sure there is some talent there.

So the BEC was officially launched last Thursday - 23 October. Here are some pics of the build up to the launch:

Through the Freedom Ride funds we were able to purchase all the necessary tools for Sipho's BEC, including a park tool bike stand!

The bikes which are all second hand bikes were donated from the UK, US and Netherlands. These arrived in CPT and were transported to JHB through the Freedom Ride. Sipho was give 40 bikes and a month of spares as his capital investment into his new business

The workshop looks pretty neat inside, the guys did a great job in setting up.

The launch was well attended and we seen the mayors and ministers riding from the Orlando Community hall to the BEC at the Orlando School.

For this interested in seeing the BEC it is at Orlando Secondary School and is open from Monday to Saturday. Remember, this is our first BEC in Gauteng, through the Freedom Ride we plan to do many more! If you are interested and would like to know how to contribute, please get in touch with me.

I was privileged enough to meet Sipho at Jozi2Kosi. We spend quite a bit of time over the 7 days. He told me about this project and how bicycles has always been part of his life. How he used to cycle many kilometers to buy vegetables and then sold them again in the townships. It was clear that he loves bicycles and he was very exited about this 'shop' of his. His enthusiasm is really infectios.

Good luck on a great initiative.

Good luck Sipho!
