I know I know, but unless you only do shuttle days, you still have to pedal to the top :)

Got mine a few moths back, climbs fine, goes down even better. its not a xc bike thats for sure.

best all rounder with nice slack head angle.

I paid R33k but that was last year. Seen them advertised for R37k recently. See my response in the Pyga thread on what riding you do. If you planning on riding downhill / enduro / jumping and dropping off everything it is a great buy. However it is a lot of bike for just trail riding!

As for who stocks them, try Mikes bikes. I got mine from him and had great service.

I think i paid about 34 35 for mine two months ago. Best all rounder i think.

Yeah...!!!

Its the first question/statement I get from people when they comment on mine... "I hear it climbs k@k"....

Really don't understand where that comes from... Went from a dual sus XC 29er to this and the only real difference I feel when climbing is the lively front end due to the shorter chain stays...

I believe that a different rear tyre makes a world of difference to the rolling resistance (Hans Dampf is like an MX tyre).

I guess I'll try once I wear mine out.

"I hear it climbs k@k".... I think its the jealousy, must be.

You are right about the front end on the climbs, feels lively at times. Funny enough though, I owned a 2013 trance 29 er a few bike's back which front end also felt a bit lively on climbs.

I am not a climber, i suck at it. Will never be able to keep up with any XC rider no matter what bike i ride. The reign is perfect for my style of riding. Trail/ DH.

Mine only climbs like shaite because of the person on the saddle...

I wasn't told it came with complimentary wheeze-bags and grunts.

So has anyone given up on their DH bike and is just using their Reign?

I have an almost unused Goose Boot'R which I am unsure whether I should sell or not.

The Reign is amazing, but I haven't ever taken it down a DH course.

I think for me the Reign is more than enough bike and i cant justify having a DH rig. I have ridden one or two of the DH tracks with the Reign, goes fine.

That is just my opinion.

More than capable. It won't be as forgiving (200mm plus is a large amount of squish no matter what you think) but it's just fine.

For all out balls to the wall big ass park-day stuff, the boot'r will be the better option. But the Reign will definitely be there, nipping on the ankles like a slightly crazed, tik-fuelled rabbit.

I don't think you need a DH bike for SA tracks. I have done pretty much all of them in the Cape and mine has even been where quite a few DH bikes haven't.

Got a Rock Razor at the back. Makes a noticeable difference for sure. I agree regarding the climbing ability, even with 1x10 I don't find climbing an issue. Maestro suspension does a great job.

I'm not a gram counter but the bike could lose a bit of weight though. For the price I'm not complaining and will upgrade heavy wheels in due course. At least the wheels are very strong.

Yes!!! I tended to buckle mine (prior Reign) plenty... till insurance bought me Flows..

Can't comment on the tyres, mine came with Minions and I cant complain, my climbing times have not changed old XC bike versus Reign...

One thing that I must say I don't like about the Reign (and don't want to start a debate, just my 2c) is the brakes, the Shimano Deore compared to the Elixr 1's I had do not modulate...

0% or 50% or 100% power, nothing in between...

Sure I will get used to them, but just an observation.

I can add to this, after  a few DH runs they didnt work as well. But then again i am heavy on the brakes.

I ran out of brakes at Giba Gorge and at Hakahana (not completely, but definitely lever to bars without stopping). I am seriously considering putting on an old set of Elixer CR's I have floating around.
