Hi man, your review is pretty damning.

Could you elaborate a bit more, everyone else seems to feel it's worth the money albeit you get what you pay for. Baseline GoPro is like R4K so trying to compare the 2 seems a bit unfair.

I am only asking you because I am seriously considering getting one but your review has made me doubt it now.

I just got a baseline go pro... The 2014 hero. They go for around 2 to 2.3 k

On the hp, The usb broke the 1st time i pushed it in.. Even when tightening the cam all the way there is still a swing side ways of about 5 mill. When placed on my mtb up and cycling the driveway it vibrates loose.

Even in the hand it feels like a toy bought from a crazy store.

Now pay comparing to the 2.3 k go pro hero, it doesn't move when tightened. Stayed in same position the whole distance down the spruit and back.

I also thought , agg its only 600, then add a mem card so its almost 1k. For that flimsy thing that doesn't do what it is suppose to( allow me to film a action shot) as it broke and vibrated loose.

Then there is the issue of replacement parts , straps etc

If you can live with all those issues and think 1 k is worth it. I just added 1400 and got a decent go pro

I hope someone can help me. I got myself the HP ac100 action cam, when I record in FHD 30fps and I copy the video to my PC, the video is not shown in HD (my monitor is full HD) yet when I check the properties of the video is says it has a frame width of 1920 and a frame height of 1080. Could it be that im not copying the video to my PC via an HDMI cable? any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi all! I got the camera and wanted to know how long it took to charge before you used it the first time. Mine has been charging for over 24 hours and the light has still not gone off. Also can you tell me if it's supposed to be a flashing or still light during charge? Thanks so much!!

Same thing happened to me, I charge it from a power socket now and it goes quite quickly

So I have one of these sitting in my cart at Takealot.com for R599.

From the posts here and the 20 reviews the camera seems worth the money albeit it is not the best. The bar mount seems to be for casual riding while the helmet or chest mount would be better for rough terrain.

Anybody else have anything to comment on the camera. Maybe someone who has used it a bit since the start of this thread???

Still sitting on the fence at the moment.

Used one this holiday, its pretty fun for R600.

The handlebar mount loosened once but that was on reaqlly rough single tract on a mtb ride of 55km.

The picture quality is great, IMO if you are not seriously keen on editing and uploading youtube videos then this will work just as well as a GoPro.

Just remember those memory cards are not cheap.

Will see if I can figure out how to upload a video later.

I used mine last year. The quality of the picture is incredible. However handlebar mount sucks, Mine didn't loosen at all (screwdriver helped) but the video vibration was ridiculous.

Ordered some new mounts from DX hoping i wont have to modify them too much.

I am incredibly happy with the camera for the amount i paid.

I would only recommend this to someone that :

1 - Tech savy as no software is included for editing.

2 - Wants to record and take pictures.

3 - Does not care about features on the camera.

After i have received new mounts and tested ill Report back.

Where did you get new mounts? I'm also looking for a handlebar mount as I'm not very keen on the helmet mount.

Deal Extreme

I bought a after market Go Pro mount then added universal adapter. All alloy and with as few pivot points as possible

http://www.dx.com/p/miniisw-m-ba1-aluminum-alloy-bike-handlebar-mount-w-long-screw-for-gopro-hero-3-2-1-black-227964#.VK5dQiuUeUI

If there is a problem with compatability ill just have to change them. Also if i get a gopro in future i can use these.

I figured it out by mistake, when you plug your usb in press the power button again the activity light will turn red, then the charging goes quick, My USB cable also broke but I have a couple lying about, perfect little gadget in my opinion for the price, I used e-buck so got it for nothing out of my pocket..
