7 Passes: 26-27 April 2015

Next April will see the first edition of this event. Traverse7 Mountain passes, starting in George central, and finish at the Knysna Waterfront, and back again. The route follows the 7 mountain passes road paralleled by magnificently beautiful scenery of Karatara, Homtini, Barrington and Phantom passes via the indigenous forest roads, dairy farms and pine forest plantations. The last few kilometers alongside the Knysna lagoon, after 77km leads you home to the welcome sight of the Knysna Waterfront race village. Day one offers riders the choice of the full route of 77km, or start at the halfway point at Karatara, and enjoy the 36km route. Join the assisted tour back via the same route the next day.

This is THE Perfect MTB entry event – mainly dirt mountain roads, and comparable to the Karoo-to-Coast in terms of terrain and difficulty. 3 water points daily, medical backup and vehicular sweeps will be there to ensure your safety and fun throughout.

Was a bit odd the riders coming off the lagoon road today riding into oncoming traffic and no signs for motorist or any marshals.

I drove past the waterfront and was just about to turn on to the main road when a bunch of riders came hammering around the corner riding into oncoming traffic (aka me) without warning. Downright dangerous and flat out scary.

Further along the N2 by the wood village signs there were cops directing riders to cross the road and ride up the bike path into traffic and again not a sign any where to be seen.
