You are right, she wasn't forced.

But would it really have taken that much from said cyclists to be considerate to other cyclists?

You were NOT FORCED to do anything, how about just saying "hello can I pass please"

Cyclist also DO NOT force cars to overtake them on a solid line, cars have pretty good brakes, they can use them, slight hoot and then pass.

haha I can already see the birds being flipped ...

So yesterday I got pretty annoyed, annoyed and irritated enough to create a thread about it.

Do people really think that riding 3 or 4 abreast all over the place is safe for all the cyclists that are using the same roads ?

Yesterday going up Klapperkop I had to really keep my mind and bike handling skills sharp.

Riders sitting two or three abreast across the entire lane to the extent that it's dangerous to overtake them, you do so by putting yourself at risk as some riders coming down the hill decide to do the same, with one or even two riders sitting over the white line descending leisurely towards the oncoming climbers.

If you want to talk to your mates Social Sam or Vriendelike Gawie, then have a braai, buy some dop and chat the day away.

Some of us are there to train and some of us are pretty serious about our ow safety and the safety of other cycling road users out there.

I am not going to reed all the replies firs will do so in time. I was up Klapperkop the weekend (today again) and a vehicle overtaking some rider probably got a bigger fright than me when suddenly myself appeared from around the corner going fast on the downhill. Luckely for us both I was not that close and he was almost back in his lane. He was overtaking three guys riding next to each other.

Even on the R21 coming from fountains guys approach klapperkop chatting, conserving energy while I have to pass way into the highway that has very fast traffic. Then 10 mins later they break up pass me sprinting up Klapperkop.

How about when I asked them nicely to allow some space they became rather verbal.

Even better, fit one of those small bells on the handlebar that people use in europe to warn pedestrians who are walking on the the same path. Funny enough a lot of people use them are mountain bikers, very few roadies have them....

Agreed but it works both ways, maybe it was early morning and road not busy etc.....

Maybe, but if they weren't aware of another cyclist, what else were they not aware of? Or did they think it is ok to push another cyclist into the road so they can all ride next to each other?

The point I am trying to make is we ALL have choices. Why choose to be inconsiderate or endanger other road users and yourself?
