Who is doing this event on the weekend? This will be my season opener.

I hope they get the swim distance under control (2.1k vs 1.5k last year) and that the new bike route is better controlled by the marshals.

My swim and bike feels stronger than last year, but I expect to really suffer on the run.

I am doing it...I can assure you that after last years debacle the guys are going to go all out to get it right and will make doubly sure the swim is 1500 meters. Last year another problem was irate traffic forcing their way past the marshalls and the MEtro....putting us at risk. I was stopped 3 times last year on the cycle leg. From what I understand there are still cross over points so this may still happen.  But after all this is an Iron Man event and their logistics are normally top class.

However I am looking forward ot the event, I have put in a lot of training over the winter and hope to see a good improvement so long as its incident/puncture free.

Good luck for the event ....

cheers

Superb event.....rally enjoyed it today , bike leg was excellent

I have to agree

, bike leg was awesome. the N17 is a peach to cycle on

well done to the organisers and municipality for sorting out the circus of last year, they obviously serious about keeping the event in Germiston.

Really well organised race. Future registrations should be really speedy now they have all our fingerprints!

N17 was really fast.

The marshals at the hairband turnaround were incredible in their cheering, singing and dancing - gave me a lot of energy to tackle the little hill.

From a performance point of view, couldn't get my heart rate up so had a mediocre race but a good time nonetheless.

Event food vendors could do with some improvement. That prego was barely edible. Happy to pay for something which is delicious.

This was my first triathlon, and I have this to say about it...

1) Great event, well organised, perfectly run by everyone, really felt welcome

2) Great course! From the swim to the bike to the run, so enjoyable!

3) The cheering from spectators and race officials was so motivating, felt great!

4) 99% of triathletes are some of the friendliest people I have ever met, motivating, cheerful, and just all around great people! Made so many friends!

5) 1% of triathletes are utter d!cks! To the guy with the red and black specialized bike race number 28 get yourself some manners! So rude when I was getting my bike in the transition area!

Much appreciated and I look forward to doing more!

If it is any consolation, number 28 is not in the results.

Thanks a million... these results are amazing .....so much info to be gleaned and analysis of your weakness etc according to your age category and gender. Running is clearly my weakest by a long shot an I ran the best 10km leg of my life yesterday. have much work to do on running it appears. between the 5km makr and the 10 km mark I dropped nearly 80 positions and my last 5km was only 3 minutes slower than my first 5

I did a 6 second negative split for the run. Pretty consistent (ly) slow...

How far was the bike? I had it at 38km.

And the swim?

Run, I had at 9.9km which I will happily call 10 on the nose.
