2x10 to 1x10 Chainline issues

Not sure what BB it is, think a BB70? There are 2 BB spacers on the drive side and 1 on the non-drive. I talked to a bike mechanic and he said there is no way of shifting the BB for better chainline... chain was brand new and had a quick link installed, but it broke nowhere near the link.

I wouldn't know why your mechanic is saying this? If you ride a single ring on a 2x10 crank your chainline will be a few mm out. I played with the spacer rings until the chainline felt right. Just make sure there is still enough thread of the bottom bracket cup into the frame.

Or just add spacers (plain old washers) onto the chainring bolts. Works perfectly.

Called crossing the chain .That why I stick to 2 x10 or go Sram xo1 or better still Single speed

I've never broken a chain or had 'cross chain' issues... been running my PYGA 1x10 for ages and running my fatbike 1x10 without issues.

Single ring replaces the big ring from a 2x setup, which is capable of running through the entire cassette so there shouldn't be any issues...

I have new style slx 2x converted to single with raceface, no issues for me after a couple of months. Did not use spacers although i guess it could improve the chainline in the top 2 gears, but i seldom use them. Most of the time i ride in the 5 6 7 8 9 gears then chainline is fine
