Nearly got taken out in Meyerton on Sunday whilst completing the Protea Cycle challenge.  This guy decided he did not have to stop at the stop street whilst the Marshall clearly indicated that he had to wait for us cyclists to pass the intersection........had to slam on brakes to avoid T-boning the car.

Do you as a cyclist pay a yearly vehicle licence fee to ride your bicycle on the road? No you don't. You use the road for free. Motorcycles are allowed to lane split....however they do so at their own risk.

Forgive my tone...not trying to fight with anyone. I'm always suprised when cyclists have that attitude of entitlement on the road. In a time where too many cyclist are being knocked, this is last thing we should be doing. Share the road, respect your fellow road user, irrespective what he is riding\driving.

Uhm, yes actually, I have two licenses entitling me to use the road. One for each of my cars. So, as a legal road user in South Africa, might it be time that we cyclists stop using the one size fits all solution to drivers versus cyclists. I will bet my bottom dollar that once the oh so high and moral righteous cyclist unclips and stows the bike, he or she just becomes another inconsiderate road user hooting at cyclists to get out the way. Go on, be honest to yourselves at least, you know you do! And before everyone starts ranting, I am a mountain biker, so I very rarely ride on the road.
