2011 FOX Float 140mm FIT fork - not getting full travel

Bath oil migration. It's caused by a little foam ring under the u-cup seal on the air piston. Take the foam ring out and the problem goes away.

Also, do it now. The bath oil that's meant to be in the leg is now on top of the air piston, so your stanchions will shortly join the collection on my wall if you're not quick about it.

No need for the extra rubber scraper thingy, Fox forks got by for many years without it. That foam ring was a brainfart by a designer looking to make his mark IMO.

I Have the same problem and according to the bike shop there nothing wrong.

If it's a 2011 or a 2012 model I'd suggest you bring it to me before your stanchions wear out.

If you're getting 95% travel instead of 100%, no problem. Anything less than 80% at recommended sag and you're in for a hiding if you don't get it looked at.

Is your LBS a competent LBS when it comes to suspension and tech goodies, or are they just good at selling things that the local magazines have full page adds of month in and month out?
