Advice On Christmas Gift For My Father

Hi All,

So, it is that time of year again and I need some advice on what to buy my father for Christmas (also need to buy it soon before I blow all my $$$).

My father has recently started cycling seriously again (he has always cycled) and he doing 2/3 rides a week again. I really haven't gotten him anything for Christmas the last couple of years, as he is 50 and pretty much has everything he needs and hates petty gifts. But this year I really want to get him something nice and practical - cycling related.

Can any of you give me some suggestions of possible things to buy my father? Something useful and nice. I don't really have the biggest budget, but hey money isn't everything when buying gifts. I thought a nice jersey maybe, but "nice" is very open to taste.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

I guess anything cycling related would be appreciated. Perhaps a few smaller "cheap" items such as bar tape (gather he is a roadie), cool socks (cliche i know), new cleates, chain lube, nice energy pack....perhaps even sneak his bike out for a great service or even a professional bike fit would be cool.

Thanks for the advice! The idea of having a fit done or a service didn't even come to mind and its something I'm sure he wouldn't do himself, so that may be a good idea!

+1 on the bar-tape idea - his once white bar-tape looks like a brown mess!

VW HERALD TOUR DE VELO CLASSIQUE.

If he's 50 and been riding for years, he'll appreciate riding a 20 odd year old bike, showing it off and riding with other ballies!
