Ive known both mechanics at trail and tar for a long time. One I have been riding with for 15 years and the younger one is my brother so I know that they are both top guys and really good mechanics. Ive even let them touch my bikes once or twice, and I do ALL my own work.

Well, let's see. Is there any bike shop on earth that has never made a mistake or failed at their first attempt? NO. What is important is HOW they treat YOU and your BIKE when something goes wrong. Therefore, let me tell you who I deal with:

I fix & service most things on 8 bikes in the family.

For complicated work or when I don't have the time, I take it to one of 2 shops:

1. Mark at Crown Cycles or

2. Jared at BMC in Salt River

I use them because I have built up a personal relationship with both places. Yes, they have got things wrong occasionally over the years, but they have always made them right and always treated me well. 99% of the time they get things right the first time. In return I like to think I have always been a good and reasonable customer also.

Thanks all. Definitely options! I've booked in with Mark at Crown Cycles. He was really good last time and as you've confirmed he's still there and on form I think it's fair to give Crown the return business. Looks like Trail & Tar would be a good next option :-)

- Droo & Stoke for all things bouncy and even some things not (like wheel builds - apparently doing good things & 26er parts tyres that aren't hidden away in a dark corner and forgotten about like the ginger step child!).

- I've also use Adri / The Professor (hub name) down Retreat way for my Road n' dirt bikes and never had an issue or ever had to get him to tweak a thing.
