I am lookin at buying a IDT for winter and this crappy weather.

Looking at the Elite Chrono Fluid.Seems a bit pricey.

Any recommendations or advice?

They say that the rotational speed determines the effort????

Is it an option to buy an old track bike cause one does not need brakes on these things. Can I get away with no gears?

Then it can stay on the trainer all the time with special rear tire etc

I spend a lot of time on the indoor trainer in winter.

How I see it:

1. Most important is to keep my mind busy, stuff to distract me from the fact that I'm going hamster, pedalling my lungs out & going nowhere. I have a trainer that links to a PC. This helps, but even better would have been one with a steering gadget as well. The quality of the graphics is also important to me, my IDT has crappy graphics, some of the newer IDTs have actual video footage.

2. Measuring power with the IDT is not important to me, as I have a power meter on the bike. The power measuring of IDTs are not all accurate, if accurate power measurement is NB to you, research this.

3. I wanted an IDT that could give a high resistance.

4. A bigger flywheel means more realistic road feel. For me this was not such a big issue.

5. I bought a big fan to help cool me down, and could actually do with another one.
