Safety around Midrand and Centurion

I'm still shocked at the amount of cyclists cycling alone in and around Midrand and Centurion. I was bike-hijacked last year and maybe I'm just paranoid. At times I feel like stopping my car and give them my peace of mind. It's dangerous out there guys, let's rather use Parks like Groenkloof, Voortrekker Monument and others. My two cent worth.

Jackers don't own the roads! Face the fear and be vigilant. If you know the dodgy areas, you'll be safe.

sorry dude im not ganna let the few stop me from doing what i love.

 

bike parks have doubled their fees in 2 years, I was paying R20 a ride, most r between 40 to 60 now, im doing 4 rides a week, work it out. Im not interested in buying a yearly ticked as i would be limited to 1 then.

 

There are far worse thinks than death, being trapped at home being 1 of them! so as long as my life cover is paid I'm gonna be doing open trails solo...

T-bo, I'm the same on the paranoid part, but stuff them. I now try to get feedback on where it's safe.

I cycle from Kosmosdal to Klapperkop these days. I find it very safe there.

I am also skeptical about riding in Midrand.

 

Myself and a mate normally ride from his place in Kyalami during the week.

 

In Winter a lot of that is in the dark.

 

My first choice would how ever be riding trails.

 

In theory one can only do that once a week.
