my sunday morning ride westcoast

Hagar, Gary and a couple of mad people were cycling from Cape Town to Langebaan in Dec so I decided I would take the car to Langebaan park the car and cycle and meet them. I was instructed to cycle through the reserve which it took my 1/2 an hour to find with some SERIOUS up hills in between.

 

Eventually found the reserve cycling away minding my own business thinking to myself if something goes wrong with my bike I am stuffed as I had been cycling for almost an hour and NOBODY came passed me, all of a sudden I heard this strange noise looked behind me and this ostrich was on a mission of his/her own..... I cycled to the other side of the road and if followed me making these strange noises..... So here I was cycling as fast as I could with this freaking bird chasing me and me screaming for it to F off..... It chased me for about 5 or so minutes but believe me if felt like 6 hours. It eventually decided I wasn't his play mate and ran off.  I rode for another 10 minutes or so before I met up with the group. We looked for the Ostrich on the way back but nothing NOW everyone thinks it's one of THOSE stories

the two in the pic ran infront of me for about 4 minutes in the road i just slowed down as they can give you one moerse kick. Often we have been riding and they run alongside you . What they are thinking beats me they just cruise next to you its quite scary as you dont know if they are going to lash out and kick you must be the helmet i think

the only serious hill is that little one as you leave the park and head out into langebaan got my Garmin telling me i was in the red zone  real nasty little blighter

in 4 months time its flower season and then it will be even prettier

look for that huisie for me in the meantime please...  I think a visit to Saldanha in flower season will be just perfect...

when i lived in Langebaan we went on a flower ride on horseback! it was something I will never forget!

Sweetie can braai a mean snoek you lick your fingers off and angel . I bake

no man i make a rasin and rosemary loaf ala  Jamie Oliver  they  say  that  snoek is best eaten with bread and jam its a west coast thing. I will organise a nice lunch for us after the ride. We must get Skye up here too she says she also likes riding in the park.

Skye doesn't eat fish though. No reason other than ALL FISH SMELLS BIG TIME. But I will cycle with you all. I will eat the bread as it sounds delicious

skye i dont like fish either i love my fillet steak !!! really but the snoek Sweetie does even i like . I make a mean smoked snoek pate with cream and parsley, dash of lemon juice with salt and pepper . ohhhh its so nice on melba toast.

 

you see that my problem i like food too much
