The 2015 Tour Dubai has started today, it's a fairly flat tour (as you can imagine in Dubai)

The sprinters will be keen to test their form as well.

In partnership with RCS Sports and the Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Tour is a professional cycle race and spans over four days and four different stages and settings covering iconic locations in Dubai.

The first stage takes riders on a 145km ride through to the Union House Flag. The second stage sees cyclists race to Atlantis, The Palm for 185km. The third stage is the longest stage, 205km and challenges cyclists all the way to the Hatta Dam. The final stage of Dubai Tour gets cyclists to pedal up to the Burj Khalifa at a 128km distance.

All the races will begin at the Dubai International Marine Club.

Having achieved 2HC status after last year’s incredible success for an inaugural event, Dubai Tour 2015 will host 16 teams of eight riders each. with some changes to the course. This time around there will be no time trial stage while a hill climb finish has been added and the total distance raced increases by 60%, from 418km in 2014 to 663km this year.

Jeez they started that a hell of a long way out. Couple more meters on that road and I don't think Cav' would have kept that top spot!

After Cav's strong ride up the wall the keep in contention of the lead, todays last stage had everything to play for in the GC.

Etixx-Quickstep put on a master class of pure, pin burying, balls out power in the last 3kms to blow everyone off to the point that Renshaw and Cav opened a gap from the rest of the peloton in the last 300 mtrs.

That was big ringing to the max. Brilliant stuff.

Cav' wasn't impressed with the other teams... ;)

“I’m over the moon,” said Cavendish, who paid tribute to his Etixx-QuickStep team and had some thinly-veiled words of criticism for Team Sky and Movistar. “We’re the only team who rode all week, even yesterday when it was mainly to honour the jersey. I was a bit frustrated with the other teams who’ve come here and haven’t raced, so I had a bit of fire in my belly.”
