You realy can,t go wrong with any of them .Had an anthem before and now on SC tallboy .Anthem,s are great climbing bikes .Most of my riding friends have cannondales or spez .I just don,t like to much maintenance and with anthem and Tallboy it is minimal .If i could get my hands on a Canyon ,i would

Walked into my LBS last year wanting a dale and left with a Giant Anthem advanced 650b. It's really well spec'd and you'll have loads of change in your pocket. It climbs well and I have figured out the descents finally. My only gripe is having to lean down all the time to adjust the read shock between the three settings- climb, trail, descent. Perhaps the team edition has cabled adjusters.

I leave my shock in trail all the time, even on tar, the climb setting for me is terrible but I do find locking the fork on climbs helps on gravel and tar.

Giants are HEAVY, they make good road bikes and do not put that much money into MTBing development. If their MTB's were lighter, better spec and not so ugly( :P ) we might see them on the world cup circuit one day.

There's a lot of truth in that. Giant canned half of there XC team last year to focus more on their road bikes. Pretty sad.

I think if the Giant suspension was that good all the top brand bikes would have taken a similar approach. Would love to see why Spez, Santa Cruz, Cannondale, Cube, Focus, Scott, etc. did not opt for that type of suspension.

I landed up getting an Epic comp, I too like climbing and could not find any better climber, now after a few months I am convinced that there is no better DS climber. Billed as a race bike I have been really surprised at how much of an all rounder this bike is. With the brain switched off it is fully active and very forgiving and capable.

Best advice I can give is test ride both and make your decision.
