Guest notmyname Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Climbing legs needed between CP 2 and 4. Racing legs from CP4 till the end. Waiting to do my 2nd ride. I realise this event must not be underestimated. This is why I'm doing all research and planning now so I can get started growing my base ASAP. Currently I'm averaging 6-9 hours per week but plan on ramping it to 15 as I go. There will also be lots of training rides with mates who are doing BnB and W2W.

Shorter more goal orientated rides will do the trick. You need to determine how fast you want to race. Next year I`m gonna ride as fast as possible to CP2. From there there are some climbs that I will be walking the last bit. (rest the legs). From CP4 its rather fast till the end with 2 minor climbs. This time round I will practise my walking muscles. .Good luck with your training.

My goal is to finish sub 8h as it's my first one. If all goes well and I'm strong and injury free maybe 7h30'ish will be a lekker cherry. I'm awear It's a tall order but I'm a very goal driven being so I'd rather set the bar high.
Jva Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Okay, the decision has been made. I'm doing my first Atta in January 2016. This is the biggest campaign I've taken on and I'm super excited. As I understand it training should consist mainly of hills and TITS with a shortish intervals session once a week for building extra strength. As for the looooong training rides in jhb. Where do you make up the elevation? Breedts and little Breedts only gives 1400m max.Northcliff hill will become your friend, 2 to three hours will give you plenty of climbing
Slanghoek Louis Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Definitly my dream race! Did the mini Attakwas 2015.
