Second Hand Bike MTB availibilty

Recommended Posts

Im pretty new with the cycling thing...I actually haven't even started, however i have really been wanting to get into it but it has come to my attention that there are barely any 2nd hand 29er Large bikes for sale in the eastern cape..Is there a particular reason for this? are there particular seasons of activityhttp://cdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png in mountain biking? is it because the cape epic is on soon or what? your input would be much appreciated.

There are next to none, you either have to get hold of mtb clubs in your area to see if anyone is selling or buy from elsewhere and courier.

I bought my anthem a few months ago from someone in Joburg, got a friend to check it out then couriered it down to EL.

Please do not insult regular members of this forum when they are giving you some good answers to your questions.

It is simple: There are more than 10 times the number of cyclists in the Western Cape and in Gauteng respectively. There are also more High Net Worth people in Gauteng and the Western Cape respectively that upgrade more regularly, meaning that there are more second hand bikes in these respective areas.

You complaining about spending 8 k on a bike, just remember you will get what you pay for. 8k don't buy much.

Tuition cannot fix genetics. I blame humanity for doing away with natural selection.

You see thats the the thing about forums @GLuvsMtb.... If i met you in person as a first timer and introduced myself and we had the exact same conversation you would have made nothing of it and i would have appreciated your input because it makes sense. However i come in here asking for help and i get attacked by a bunch of people behind a keyboard? can someone please tell me what i said that coudlve been taken up in the wrong context or something? All im saying is i id rather buy an "okayish" bike for 8 k thats second hand than a new bike thats crap for 8?

Try CycloPro, they regularly have a selection of pre owned bikes but yes, pre owned Large 29ers are scarce. Everyone in our group except myself rides medium.

Otherwise have a look at bikes in other provinces ie.

Thanks oomkool.. I have no idea why everyone just jumped onto the bandwagon. Thanks for the advice

We all ride shitty bikes when we start, then you learn what you need and what you can afford, I rode a 8K Silverback (new) for 18 months and learned how to ride a mtb on it. A 40k bike don't make you a good rider.

Some people need a refund of their tuition fees, as they clearly did not manage to learn any manners and respect.

im not complaining about spending 8 k on a bike... im upset about the availability of second hand bikes because id rather spend 8 k on a second hand one and get more out of it . And asked if anybody if they knew why.. and here i get told i dont have manners. Im sorry if my budget doesnt fit your social budget crowd acceptance plan.

Thanks darelip. i completely understand. I just had the intention of rather getting the best i could out of 8k (eventhough its not that great).. Than spending 8 k on something new thats even worse if you know what i mean... However I have been scouting gumtree etc and i find like zzziltch. Was just wondering why no1s selling in that price range and if there was a particular reason for it. Your civilized input is much appreciated Thanks.

A forum member commented that he bought a second hand bike from another region and had a friend check it out for him, and you ranted about paying R8k for a new shitty bike. He offered a pragmatic solution to which you were very hostile.

Wow! You guys are quick at giving people flack!

Think you are misinterpreting what the OP was trying to say:

- The fact that he can't get 2nd hand bikes is working on his nerves (not directed at anyone)

- He doesn't want to pay 8k for a new bike, and would rather pay for a better 2nd hand bike.
