Travelling out to Vaalwater/ Marken etc over weekends is definitely an option.

RABUBI Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I don't live there, but have you ridden on the railway line road to Thabazimbi? I grew up in Thabazimbi and When I visit my parents, I usually do a 100km out and back on that road towards ellisras through all the farms. Flat, straight but such a nice road to just do a Tempo ride. You cannot access it from Thabazimbi side with a car, unless you are a farmer next to the Railway, so it is just farm road as far as you can see. I once got stuck behind a Buffalo, that got out somewhere and was lost between the Game fences. Was wondering if it goes all the way to Ellisras, and if it accessible from your side?

I found 2 places there (have not ridden yet) that has trails. - One close to amandelbult (will look for the link), other one close to Matlabas (www.mateke.co.za) Give me a call later and I will explain to you. SimpleDom Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Thanks for the reply! I'll give you a call. I'm going to Rooibokkraal Safaris. I found out today that it's 100km outside of thabazimbi.... Problem I'm finding as I call various farms in the area is that they are full with hunters. Obviously not keen to ride on the farms that are hosting hunters.
RABUBI Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 you just go through town on the marakele road for about 2-3km. when the road make a right turn there is a dirt road on the left. the railway is 50m down that road, turn right on that service road that runs parallel to the railway. you will have to climb over two gates after about 5km, but there are no issues. enjoy!
