Cycling to Meerendal Wine Farm

Hi Folks

 

Mate and I are cycling from Sea Point to Meerendal on Sunday to watch the Cape Epic Finish line.

 

Not to savvy on the safety of roads out that way.

 

Can one of you locals please suggest the safest route.

 

We are on Road Bikes so no gravel

Not a lot of safe road to get to that side, but I have done this route before:

 

Cycle path to Paddocks. Right in Racecourse Road. Left in Koeberg. Right at Makro (Plattekloof Road). Over N1  and left at the circle. This will take you past Durbanville Hills, and from there you can choose your own route.

Yip the above is right .

Dont do Contermans and Vissershok. The latter very narrow and will be busy .

Did this commute regularly. Above is best route.

 

Come over Durbanville hills. Straight through first traffic lights at second traffic lights turn left into st Johns road. At the circle at bottom of st Johns turn left to Meerendal.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunately my mate only has a road bike and given that he is a beast I will never keep up on my 26" 1x10.

 

Thanks for the advice guys, looking at Google maps had me concerned given that roads out that way don't have a lot of shoulder to play with. Will pop some extra lights on the bike that day just to be extra safe.
