Event Name: Nissan Trailseeker #1 Helder Berg
When: 9 May 2015
Where: Ridgemor Wines, R102 Kuilsriver Road | Firgrove, S, Western Cape
Category: MTB

We are glad to announce the first event in a new series of four events in the Western Cape, that will make up the offical Western Cape Marathon Mountain bike series for 2015. The series is targeted at the young, the novice and the family but also for the experienced rider. The routes are aimed to be fun and friendly, no technical and specialised bits that only the pro's can ride. The series caters for those looking to get into mountian biking as a sport, the weekend riders and the family conscious.
But with great TV coverage, good prize money with provincial points up for grabs, the serious riders are drawn in to compete into a festival of mountian biking.
The first event in the new series takes place on the trails between Somerset West and Stellenbosch the homeground of the Wannabees Cycling Club. The routes cross many of the famous wine farms in the area, and will be a fast paced route showcasing the beautiful green rolling hills of the area.
The trails have been laid out over the past two to three years and features dual track, gravel roads and short sections of single track that anyone can enjoy!
Come and share a this great new experience in a new area. We'll bring great meals and snacks, while you share the battle scars and war stories with your mountain bike buddies.

Toss up between Montagu Mania & this?

Milky, with points being awarded each round, and a host of great venues, I would do this one. With the intention of doing every event, and see where I end up. Helderberg, Grabouw, Meerendal and Hemel and aarde in Hermanus. Some great venues.

I've entered, and will do all four races....Great to have a proper organised big boy MTB series happening in the WC :)

Same here/agreed.

Finally some movement here on the forum :)
With two weeks to go, the Western Cape woke up ;)

Guys please see this as YOUR series, we've waited a couple years to get the sponsors sold... let's tell all your friends & clubs about it so we can make it big over the next year!

The Cape really needs this!
Also send me suggestions / comments of what you want and want to see!

to be fair you only post it here on the hub 3 days ago & there is another event happening same day & gravel travel the next day, can understand why riders are not exactly hunting for entries. Maybe for the next events market more aggressively? Flyers on windshields at various races usually does the trick.

Event created 20 March over a month ago :)

Date was in the calendar long before gravel was (gravel on the Sunday now)

5000 flyers were printed and distributed in the cape among bike shops and events.

:) - All good
