CAR KEY @ MEERENDAL

As luck would have it, when I got to the car my Strava showed that I only rode 4kms, so I deleted it

You know what they say, Dre, if it ain't on Strava, it never happened. Could this be why no-one seems to find the key, cause it's not there?

Now I am reminded of the time I went surfing with my car keys (it was a Uno, with no remote mechanism, so waterproof) in the pocket of my board shorts at Vic Bay, only to come back to my car two hours later with no key  .

the result was that I had to break into my own car without actually breaking it, before locking it up again and waiting for a lock smith to come out the following day to make a duplicate key from the boot lock mechanism. That cost me a pretty penny back then, but lesson learned. I will always make sure my key is stashed. Better to lose a bomb than a key.

 I have eye-witnesses that the ride did happen, and also I have that insane climb, from stairway to heaven to where the paragliders jump off, imprinted in my memory.

What, Dorstberg insane?

Nah, it's walk in the park  (if you do it often enough) :whistling:

Hey Dre.  If it is a coded key, it is going to cost a fortune to replace.  Just remember you should be insured for loss of keys.  Buddy of mine lost his somewhere between Durban and Ballito.  Insurance paid for a new remote key and all his other keys and no excess.

Actually, I had a good laugh at the paraglider instructor losing his temper with his pupils. I actually cracked up when he got one ballie to lift his 'chute and start running down the hill. The instructor kept yelling "keep the pressure, keep the pressure" as the ballie went over the edge and ended up in the bushes quite some distance from where he started. When finally the poor guy made it back to the top, the instructor goes off at him again."what part of keep the pressure don't you understand?""" Sheez, that oke was intense,

So, haven't heard anything yet.

Anybody going there today? Do me a favour. If you fall, spend a couple of seconds extra on the ground and comb through the grass :)

Oh, still waiting from the broker to see if it's covered.

April fools day bump.

It might still be out there, and the reward for your favourite case of beer is still on the table

Yip, they can be expensive these days. I traded in my BMW 1 series at the beginning of the year and had to replace the spare I'd lost somewhere along the line. R4500 later...

Keys are usually insured, unfortunately I'd claimed R10k a month earlier to repair damage done by someone who'd scraped the car while parked and didn't bother to leave a note, so I left the insurer out of it.

I really hope this one is found!
