Ok I know it it is quite some time before the event but I am already thinking about how to get the bike there. My flights are booked but I am wondering about all the luggage (including bike). I am not particularly in the mood to go and buy a R5000 bike box just for this event. So a couple of questions I hope to get some answers on:

  1. Can one rent a bike box?
  2. Is there a courier service that will take your bike down (even if it to George only and then back from PE) ?
  3. If none of the above is safe, can one consider a normal cardboard box one can get form your local bike shop and take that on the plane?
  4. Are there other participants offering to take bikes down and up? I am living in Pretoria.

You could rent a box at a cyclelab or LBS, however, the LBS will probably just cardboard box it.

You will have to pay for extra baggage for the bike, if you fly with it.

If you want some  one to take your bike then best is to chat to Military Cycling Club as they go out to do this event in a big way every year.  Failing that try the CHOC cows.
