Mojoman Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Saw this posted on a local facebook group page, I haven't heard of any issues with cyclists but it is worth keeping in mind if you are riding around in that area, especially if you wander off the main road..... BEWARE BE AWARE BEWARE BE AWARE BE ALERT.It has come to our attention that there is a crime syndicate living in the mountains in the Breedt's Nek area/Marikana Rd/ Roodekrans area.40 BREAK-INS IN THE MLF AREA IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS!...Their modus operandi is as follows:They travel at night.They do not travel along roads but cut fences and traverse farms at will.They are living in the mountain reserve and return there with their stolen goods.

I'm planning two rides there thus weekend.Personally I haven't heard of any robberies with cyclists, only thieves in the night at some venues and farms.... Its just a heads up if you go off exploring on the pass etc on your own but sadly this is how we now live in SA.....Forewarned is forearmed!

Mojoman Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 Guys, don't stress about it too much, unless you are on your own heading east or west across the mountains I think you should be fine! Just keep the eyes open for groups of people up on the hills...I think the big problem is all the theft in the night, these guys like to operate under the cover of darkness.
