Lefty Service

Recommended Posts

So need to get my lefty serviced- suggestions? I heard all the shops sent them to omnico anyway, can I take it to them directly? Are there any shops that do it in house?

On a slightly different tack- want to get the tools to do it myself, was just wandering if anybody else out there has done so and any advice?

Cheers

May be wrong here but I think you have to go to an authorised Cannondale dealer and they'll forward it to Omnico.

Good luck

You won't get much joy sourcing the tools locally.  The agent is not helpful.  You can get them all on line in Europe from the Cannondale website but they don't ship outside Europe.  The tools developed with the fork so there are a few variations but I believe the latest do work retrospectively. The service is not difficult but the roller bearings and retainer plates must not be mixed up!!!  I used to service them at Yellowsaddle but I don't see enough of them to justify the outlay on the tools.  Any LBS dealing with the agent can send them in.

Thanks David- the shock has a yellow saddle sticker on it, so you may have worked on it.

Is it only the castle tool that is really needed?

As far as I can remember, yes.

You can use a normal bb spanner to remove the castle nut. This will allow you to do the needle bearing reset yourself. But you will require a bunch of proprietary tools to work on the internals.
